Who are we?
Hen of the Woods, located at 48 Hampton Road brings out-of-the-ordinary, responsibly-sourced, gourmet pantry staples to the Hamptons. We focus most on local and seasonal ingredients sourced from farmers & purveyors, who owner Jonathan Bernard has forged strong relationships. Unique Asian ingredients and prepared foods also fill the shelves to shed light on some of our favorite staples in an approachable way.
Hen of the Woods has an extensive selection of exotic produce and other coveted culinary ingredients, all sourced ethically, and with purpose. At the helm is owner Jonathan Bernard, a farmer and forager coined as “The Uni Bomber”, who has been supplying mushrooms, uni, and other incredible food products to top chefs and restaurants across the Hamptons and NYC for the past five years. Bernard’s expertise and hands-on involvement offer an exceptional product selection for home-cooks and professional chefs alike.
Everything in the store is intended to elevate our customer’s at-home cooking experience while simultaneously supporting local and small purveyors who offer the best in class for what they do (think oysters, caviar, uni, sushi-grade fish, etc.). The emphasis on working with these folks comes from wanting to know exactly where everything is coming from, so that knowledge and information can be shared with our customers to further their experience.
Our goal is to be Southampton’s hub for seasonally driven produce, exotic grocery items, and locally sourced specialty products.
